National Poetry Day 5th October 2006 This year's subject is - Identity Createwrt.net winning poem is from Kevin Oakley - Southend on Sea His poem - Identity - is a very clever well thought out poem in the opinion of the Judges. Identity Am I the lynch-pin, the king-pin, big cheese, Or am I a microbe in somebody's sneeze A prophet, a madman, a sayer of sooth, The plaque on a filthy old beggars cracked tooth, A comic designer on a plane above most, The tiniest crumb from the crumbliest toast, The ultimate specimen Man amongst men, A looser, a scoundrel a 1 out of 10, A wiseman, a shamen, seeing divine, A droplet of water in oceans of brine, A leader of masses, my words move the earth, Newborn and helpless crying loud after birth, Am I all am I none, ordained or free will, At the end of my days I’ll be wondering still. by K Oakley Winner createwrt.net national poetry day entry.
