Calling all Budding Poets in Stockport

Stockport Primary Care Trust are urging poetry enthusiasts in Stockport to submit poems to celebrate 60 years of the NHS.

All the entries will be displayed at an event on 1st July being held at Stockport County, Edgeley Park and a number of them will be read out during the day. The winner’s poem will be included on the Stockport PCT website, Createwrt.net and the event will be submitted for inclusion on the National Poetry Website. The winner will also receive £25 book token.

The theme is ‘Then and Now – 60 years of the National Health Service’. The competition is open to Stockport residents and anyone who works in the NHS in Stockport.

Stockport PCT hopes that you will join them in marking the occasion by remembering the achievements of the past, appreciating what we have now and looking ahead to the future.

The focus of the celebrations will be to recognise the achievement of NHS staff – without them, none of the improvements of the last 60 years, or future advances in patient care and public health – would or will be possible.
