STANDING AT THE GATE

Yes the roses look splendid this year,

they really frame the arch.

Someone passed the other day

and assumed it was part of the park.

The harebells and cornflowers have both done well,

they never let you down

and the honeysuckle's come into its own,

twisting round and round.

What's that you say? You'd like some cuttings?

Oh I really do beg your pardon.

I forgot to say, I got carried away,

I'm afraid it's not my garden.
