Beyond the calm of the

Starry night,

Beams of moonlight,

Glittered across the firmaments

At twilight.

Cold wintry gusts

Whizzed athwart jagged

Rows of hillocks.

Shrouded in flakes

Of white,

Are blooms of

Celandine and Clematis.

Within minutes of

First droplets of snow,

Sheets of ice

Adorned marshes and creeks.

Cuckoos and Cockatoos

Chirp aloud to

Warn their kind.

Racoons and Baboons

Scuttle helter-skelter

In search of shelter.

Chamois and Chaffinches

Scamper to warmer climate

On the arrival of winter.
