Tweet Tales
Can you write a story in just 140 characters? If so, you could be in with a chance of winning £20 worth of Waterstone’s vouchers.

To mark the sixth month anniversary of Culture-all
on Twitter
www.twitter.com/cultureall we, at Hampshire County Council, are
running an online creative writing competition to find the best 140
character stories or ‘Tweet Tales’.
This kind of story is often referred to as Flash Fiction or Micro Story
and is a style of fiction of extreme brevity. All short story writing is
challenging, but with just 140 characters available you will need to
make every space count.
There is no theme or genre and it's open to anyone, if you live in
Hampshire or not. Historical Romances, Ghost Stories and
Spaghetti Westerns are fine with us! However, we are sticklers for
grammar, so please don’t use abbreviated language associated with mobile
phones, such as 'gr8 2CU' (great to see you) unless it is integral to
the story.
Entries are limited to three per person and should be no more than 140
characters, which includes all spaces and punctuation as well as the words.
A panel of judges will select a shortlist of five stories for each of
the two age
groups; under 16s and over 16s. The shortlists will be put on the
Culture-all website where the public will be able to vote for their
favourite.
Please note! Closing Date: Friday 19th November 2010.
The winners will be announced on Monday, 13th December on the Culture-all website.
Prizes: £20 Waterstone voucher for the winner of each age group.
Entry fee: None.
