Vernon Mill Artists
Vernon Mill is an old cotton mill in Stockport and the 3rd and 4th
floors are devoted to art. There are over 40 studios making Vernon Mill
Artists the largest artist led studio group in England.
The VMA includes: painters, sculptors, potters and photographers, and
encourages mutual help and exchange of skill and experience. Several of
the artists offer lessons to the general public.
Here are a few biographies of some of the artists:
ALAN KNIGHT
Vernon Mill Stockport Sunset Stockport Viaduct Stockport Plaza
Originally a professional musician, he turned to art in the early ‘80s.
He paints in oils and applies it thickly with a painting knife. This
gives his work a rich colour, so that even the boards he uses as palates
would make great abstracts. He paints local scenes and landscapes.
