                                    THE SEAGULL

                                      Seagull

One day I was walking along the beach when I met a talking seagull; he asked me where I was going. I replied that I was just out for a walk, so he asked if I would like to go for a flight over the town. I told him I was too big for him to take me for a flight, also that I couldn’t fly myself. He instructed me to stand there and not to move. He said some strange words and all of a sudden I started to get smaller and smaller ‘til I was very tiny. He then suggested I climb on his back and hold on tight.
We then went soaring up into the sky but he didn’t go over the town as he said but headed out to sea. We were flying for some time when a head appeared from the waves. It was a very ugly sea monster and it was crying. We asked it why it was crying and it replied: ‘Because I’m very ugly, even my family and friends won't look at me. I’m very lonely.’
The seagull told her to stay still. He then said those strange words and the sea monster became very tiny, all of a sudden the seagull swooped down and caught the sea monster in his beak. He flew on until we reached a small island where he put the sea monster on the beach and said some other strange words, the sea monster started to grow until she was large again.
All of a sudden the sea started to boil and a large head appeared. It was even uglier than the sea monster, but she was very happy to see a sea monster uglier than herself and she fell in love with him straight away. They both thanked us and swam off together.
I asked the seagull how he knew about the sea monsters. He replied he could hear them crying, so he came to help them. We then started back for home and when he put me back on the shore he said those other strange words and I started to grow. I looked around for the seagull and all I could find was a piece of wood shaped like a seagull.
Then all of a sudden the sea started to boil and two very ugly heads came out, they told me that they were very happy. I asked them what happened to the seagull, they replied that he’d been killed a long time ago and comes back every hundred years to give someone a flight, and to see the sea monsters. I picked up the piece of wood that was shaped like the seagull and then started for home.
