RUDOLPH ROCKS
it’s chilly,’ said Rudolph
stamping his foot on the ground.
‘We’d be better off going in summer
it’d be better all round.
This snow and ice always makes me sneeze
and I can’t see where I’m heading,
I lost my way last Christmas Eve
and we ended up back in Reddish.’
The youngest reindeer laughed and giggled,
and tears rolled down their cheeks.
‘When you’re as high as we are,’ Rudy said,
‘it’s easy to mix up the streets.’
‘Perhaps you’re getting too old for this,’
the smallest reindeer laughed.
‘Nonsense!’ said Rudolph,
‘There’s years in me yet,
we old uns were built to last.
It wouldn’t be Christmas
Without me in front
showing you all the way
and everyone’s presents
are always delivered
whatever you little ones say!’
They stood to attention
and polished their reins
as Santa came out with his sack.
‘Are you ready lads?’ he said with a smile
and patted them all on their backs.
‘Before we set off I’ve a little surprise,’
he said, fishing in his pocket.
He brought out a present wrapped in red
saying, ‘Now we’ll go like a rocket.’
It can’t be mince pies, Rudolph thought
because we’ve all been fed.
So he ripped off the paper
and smiled to himself,
‘Hurrah, a new A to Z.’
