Poems by Misha Homayoun Fekri

Misha Homayoun Fekri at the time she wrote them
I’ve come home
I’ve come home from a hard day,
Most of its work not play.
Sometimes I just lounge about,
Or sit watching TV.
Sometimes I go begging around,
“Please mum oh where’s my tea”.
People say I’m lazy,
People say I’m sweet.
Some people say I’m full of cheek,
But I don’t care I just get on with the week.
Precious little Hollyhocks
It starts as a bud a precious little bud,
Resting in the autumn colour sky.
But as the night sky falls,
A little show performs.
And the little precious bud begins to sigh.
It opens and it spreads its wings,
Colours burst with might.
And the fresh pollen first tastes the air,
And before long it’s no longer night.
A bumble bee comes close near by,
To collect it’s freshly morning bite.
Off it goes to meet its mates,
A feast of honey placed on plates.
The flower takes its time to rest in space,
Another precious bud forms a face.
Joy and happiness gathers all around,
Loads more hollyhocks had only just found their friends,
We’re together and always will be together.
Sunshine after rain
The rain tumbles down like crystal storm,
Buttercup cases glitters with drips.
Trees flutter furiously,
Leaves holding tight.
Suddenly the blue blue sky,
Changing the weathers mood.
Flowers open up,
Bright colours bloom.
And the trees calm down,
After the storm.
And the sun shines down with rays of light,
Enhancing nature’s world with light.
The monster and the hamster
The monster and hamster in battle once again,
No matter where they sit or stand.
The battle starts the game,
Oh why? Said the hamster.
Must we fight with this rage?
All the other animals safe and sound,
Live in a cage with nobody to pound.
A caterpillar crawls along not doing any harm.
Suddenly it startled me,
My time had nearly gone.
If not for that gigantic bird,
I would not found out that sometimes learning s hard.
Although I have a little head,
The monster does not know.
Although I move very slow,
The monster is in fact a crow.
I thought I was a big monster,
With fangs and threatening ears.
After all that I finally knew I had learned my lesson,
And was ready to fly free.
The flying Pig
I don’t believe that pigs can fly,
I don’t know why or can they fly?
Sometimes they graze in squelching mud,
Sometimes they eat all day non stop.
I went to a pig farm and saw a dazzling sight,
To my only surprise a plump pig took flight.
My eyes lit up with trembling fear,
Could this be a dream?
Or was I really here.
Suddenly my head took control,
A flying pig? Poor little soul.
To my surprise I was home again,
Sitting at my table.
I looked out of my window and saw,
A pink plump thing.
A flying pig just passed on by,
And gave a little wink.
A spider’s web
A spider’s web hangs clear and bright,
Through the pleasant morning light.
Cool clear raindrops tumble to the ground,
Silently they rest in peace not leaving any sound.
As clear as a crystal as delicate as a swan,
As soft as a white rabbit just settling in the sun.
As graceful as a dolphin leaping in the air,
Leaves fall from autumn trees and autumns started fair.
As the peaceful sun.
As the peaceful sun hides behind a cloud,
Rays of tinted light begin to fall smoothly down.
All oranges and yellows mix together,
To make a peaceful setting.
Surrounding calmness shadows perform,
Only resting in the dimness of the hay.
Slowly fading upwards,
To where the gold colours are made.
I love to be tidy all day
I love to be tidy all day,
It’s almost better than play.
Books on the shelf,
Toys in the cupboard.
Clothes put away in the draws,
If something’s good on TV.
Or it’s a beautiful day,
I get on with tidying no time to play.
And sleep through the night,
To the end of the day.
