Poems by Roni Moore
The Lady Waits
The moon shines in her window,
It is like the light of day.
She lives in her fantasy world,
Life is easier that way.
She once was a young beauty,
With strong, wavy, golden hair.
Now she’s old and withered,
With a life she cannot bear.
She let her man go to war,
With kisses and a tear.
He died upon a battlefield,
And his body still lies there.
She sees his face in her dreams,
She hears him call her name.
But for now she must wait for him,
To come for her again.
