The Sparrow
I saw a sparrow in a tree,
Brown and dowdy he may be.
I like to see him hop around,
Up in the trees and on the ground.
His chirping and his cheeky way,
Brightens up and makes my day.
Of all the birds I have found,
The sparrow’s fun to have around.
The other birds in the sky,
Can fly about and catch the eye.
But in this land both north and west,
The sparrow is by far the best.
