SHARE THE COOKIES?
A woman went shopping and after awhile decided she needed a rest. So she
bought a packet of cookies and a coffee. Then she sat down at a table to
enjoy them.
She took a sip of coffee, and then reached for a cookie. As soon as she
did so, the stranger seated across from her helped himself to one also.
She was quite annoyed at this, but said nothing. After an interval she
took another cookie to eat, and the stranger did likewise. Now she was
what might be called, in slang, ‘getting steamed’. The same happened
with her third reach for a cookie. Now she was really angry, but managed
to hold her tongue. Only one cookie was left in the package. The man
took the last one, broke it in half, ate his share, and departed calmly
with his newspaper under his arm.
The woman could hardly believe the nerve of the man helping himself to
those cookies, until she opened her bag and saw her cookies inside!
