Poems by Nelferch Merchoed
The
Waterlily
You dropped me
-a seed enclosing Love -
Into the dark abysmal waters.
In the deep dark
Love made me break my shell
Stretch out my roots and shoots
Beyond myself
And find support
In the dark fathomless unseen
To rise through the cold waters
Called by Your light
And to unfold a flower
To Your Love
In brightness,
While drops of mud are rolling
Down my unstained leaves and petals
Like tears
to join again the desperate mould
which You had once destined to be
the cradle and the nursery
for my desire for
Pure Light.
