The Spoils of the Otherworld
To be considered carefully
Wisdom is won they say
When the queens of Annwn are keening,
When lying words inflicted wounds,
When the barrows open for ladies with the hair unbound
When tears will decorate the cauldron’s rim ,
When the drops of Awen, bitter as death,
bedew the lips of treacherous bards:
So wisdom you can win
hurting the Fair King’s maidens
But how will you fare
with wisdom without blessing?
