Poems by Margie Fox
SUMMER
HOLIDAY
One summer day Margie & Ray
Went to Shanklin, I.o.W. for a holiday.
At breakfast next day they met Arthur & Kate,
Val & Ken, and all became friends for the
Rest of their stay.
The weather was fine, the scenery devine,
Then Arthur said he couldn't define
If the hotel main entrance was at the
Front or the back,
As the lobby was so big and wide
Nobody could decide.
So they asked all the staff
And all had a laugh, when they replied
They didn't know either, and there wasn't a guide.
In the evenings there was dancing and singing
And bingo too
But at the theatre there was quite a todo
As Arthur had sat down on gum which stuck like glue.
Val and Ken Peel liked to walk a great deal
So they went up the hill the fresh air to feel.
They got to the top and came to a stop
When they met Arthur and Kate. Who with
Excitement did relate they'd seen Margie & Ray Fox
In a field by a gate.
Margie & Ray by the sea liked to stay,
And while Margie had a paddle and said it was grand
Ray went to sleep on a lounger on the hot sand.
All too soon the holiday came to an end
And so after dinner they all had a toast
To a very good holiday and friendship the most.
The very next morning, the daylight just dawning,
Robinson's coach came and drove them away
Back to their homes 'til the next holiday.
