Anne Knight Poetic Snacks
Easter Bank Holiday, 2009
I stayed an hour or two
sipping tea in cafe
once drank made my way home
Home
sat in the garden
looked at hover fly
then, as if a helicopter
rises up from the flower
and down again
the flower a helicopter pad
bending the deep yellow petal
as to drink from it
then as if in a hurry
rises up again
fast and furious
It is a warm calm day
this April day
bumble bee lands on the wallflowers
flying from wallflower to wallflower
to me a lovely smell
the holly in bud
ready to flower
full of buds
Black tulips still in their green coats
hebe, sterling silver, shows its first flower
two yellow tulips are out but half closed
pansies have opened, yellow, coral and red
narcissi just burst open, cream in colour
grape hyacinth, lovely blue
Rosie the hebe comes into flower, pink
It must be spring
